The collapse of Gaza’s hospitals and healthcare system, coupled with the catastrophic living conditions, is resulting in babies dying of preventable causes, Oxfam warned today.  Newborns up to three months old are dying of diarrhoea, hypothermia, dehydration and infection as mothers have little to no medical support and are living in appalling conditions without water, sanitation, heat or food.  

Our thoughts are with the many Muslim New Zealand families grieving the loss of their loved ones and to people of the Islamic faith – and all faiths – over the world who have been traumatised by this act of mass murder.

Condemning the attack on an aid convoy in Aleppo, Oxfam said there is the real risk Syria will fall even further into the abyss. 

Oxfam today called upon the Israeli government to compensate Palestinian villagers after the Israeli army demolished 79 structures in the village of Al Farisiya in the West Bank on Monday, forcing families into further impoverishment after years of harassment.
