Without space to speak out, organize, and take action, progress on inclusive development is severely constrained. Citizens, civil society actors and their allies must formulate a strong and consolidated global response to defend our common space for engagement, debate and action.

At the closing of the first day of the Geneva II Conference, in Montreux, Oxfam’s Shaheen Chughtai said:

Civil society organizations and networks from over 40 countries have called for a global Post-2015 development framework which “truly leaves no one behind”.

Access to medicines is a major challenge for people in developing countries. With the right medicines, diseases such as HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria are treatable.

Voluntary approaches to increasing transparent and accountable management of natural resources wealth are making sluggish progress. The Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative must put in place additional mandatory disclosure rules.
